Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in the chapel
miraculous image "Mother of Perpetual Help"

The icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help hangs at the rear of the chapel. It is beautifully crafted. The miraculous image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a widely circulated devotional image and a world-renowned depiction of Mary. The original, dating from the 14th century, is believed to have come from the island of Crete . After being moved to various locations, the image was entrusted in 1867 by Pope Pius IX to the Redemptorist Order for their Roman church of Sant'Alfonso , where it has adorned the high altar ever since. The feast day is celebrated on June 27th. For example, the pilgrimage church of Maria Puchheim is dedicated to this feast.

The official prayer of the day for the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help reads: Lord Jesus Christ, you gave your mother Mary to us as our mother, in whom we always find help. Grant that we perseverely ask for her maternal intercession and thus receive the fullness of your redemption. Amen
